Dogs-We-Love

Just a quick update!

Well it’s been a couple of weeks (ok maybe months) since I’ve added to my blog but I have been very busy getting to know my new dog Andy B. So turns out I am madly in love with him (even though I think he may be neurotic) we still don’t know what breed he is but I am thinking he might be a shepgle or beaghard (German shepherd and Beagle). I am thinking about taking him for a little training two or three sessions maybe – we are having a little trouble putting a leash on him – once it is on he is fine but getting it on is a problem and he won’t get into the car again once he is in the car he is fine just getting in is the problem.

Scout is celebrating his 1st anniversary since we adopted him. He has been helping me out with my exercise regime. He not much of a runner but he does love to walk and we have been walking two miles every day (sometimes Andy comes when we walk local) but Scout and I really enjoy the wooded paths through the park.

Basil is doing great! He is slowing down a little bit as he will be starting his 15th year on July 7th. I am sure he is going to want a cupcake. I am planning a little birthday party for him.

It’s interesting living with a pack of dogs. I am pretty sure that Andrew (my shep mix) AKA Andy Barker is convinced that I am a dog and does not get the difference between me and his BFF Scout. I worry a little bit about Andy B. We got him on super bowl Sunday 2009. We met him a few weeks before that and he was so thin and suffering from malnutrition. I would think he may have got out of the yard and lost. He obviously had some training and actually listens pretty well.

He is up to 30 lbs now and he looks great! He is a bit of a goon though he doesn’t like when you pet any of our other dogs he is not jealous he just wants in on the petting and attention and trips all over himself and will literally step on the other dogs to get to the attention giver. I think that is sad I feel so bad for him he just wants to be loved… I hope over time he will know how much we love him and will chill out.

Really though he is the cutest thing ... I just love that dog

My Three Dogs!

This is my first entry in our My-Dogs Blog so here is a little back story. My name is Mary and I live in New Jersey with my husband and we have three dogs.

Basil is a mix of Black Lab and Aussie Shep - he will be 14 on July 7th 2009. He is super smart and has been a wonderful companion and perfect watch dog.

Scout AKA Scouter Muffin has just turned one - We adopted Scout from a local rescue Happy Tails in Morrisville PA - you can find them on Petfinder. When we got him he was about 18lbs and we thought he was 8 months old. But now that he is just about 40 lbs and much bigger we may have been wrong about his age.

Andrew AKA Andy "B" (barker) has been living with us for three weeks today. We got Andy B from the same rescue as Scout. His age is also unknown but it is most likely close to one as well.
